Help Expand the reach of BOINC
What is BOINC?
BOINC lets you help cutting-edge science research by using your computer (Windows, Mac, Linux) or Android device. BOINC downloads scientific computing jobs to your computer and runs them invisibly in the background. It's easy and safe.
BOINC is an application that was created at Berkley by Dr David Anderson. It was originally created to support SETI in its search for extraterrestrial radio signals. It's since expanded to include all kinds of scientific research and problem-solving. Organisations can create a team where they can encourage people to join their team page. As your computer solves problems on the different BOINC projects, you earn credit for the work you do. As a team, the credit is combined, where you are competing against other teams to see who can have the most credit. It is a good way to encourage friendly competition while also finding cures for diseases such as HIV, Cancer, Malaria etc.
What is the problem?
BOINC has a public awareness issue where many people that would love to support the different projects, do not know about it. This holds back the speed at which we can find cures to many diseases and solve many other problems humanity currently faces.
What is the solution?
We intend to demonstrate that BOINC can be seamlessly integrated with Windows 10 as part of an official Windows 10 App. This will allow us to demonstrate to Microsoft that it should be an integral part of Windows 10 with the option for people to easily opt-out.
Switching from an Opt-In System to an Opt-Out-System is a time tested solution to increasing uptake. A lot of people have not heard about BOINC and the more people that use it, the faster we will find cures for diseases like Cancer, Malaria, HIV and many more.
How can I help?
We are looking for people with the following skills below to help us create, test and then demonstrate that BOINC can be included as part of Windows 10, that people with even the most basic user skills can understand what BOINC is doing, and how they are helping make the world a better place.
